The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari cuts through the clutter and delineates simple tips for healthy and vital living through “A Fable about Fulfilling Your Dreams and Reaching Your Destiny.” This is a super easy and fast read that I found to be incredibly helpful in continuing to shape a positive perspective and to live a life about which I am thrilled! The fable recounts the story of a litigator who had all the trappings of success, including, as you may have guessed, a Ferrari. After a sudden heart attack, he reassesses his life and travels through India learning the secrets of the sages who have managed to find seemingly eternal youth, fulfillment, abundance and joy. We learn these secrets through a (sometimes contrived) dialog between the litigator and his one time protégé. The concepts behind their conversation, though, are thought-provoking and, when applied, will transform our existence. The book is so chock full of juicy bits of wisdom (for both females and males) that I couldn’t resist highlighting large chunks of it.
Sharma says “…the words you say to yourself affect your self-image and your self-image determines what actions you take.” Thus, while it is helpful to make resolutions for ourselves, the first step is to find comfort and satisfaction with who we are inside. It is then that we can do what we desire and dream about achieving. As the now Ferrari-less Monk states, “Once you master your mind, body and character, happiness and abundance flow into your life almost magically."
"I will use my femininity as
an advantage in my life."
